Post Japans weapons squad in a platoon
Ive workerd out stats to help me with the japanese vehicles (thaks to Great escsape games).

But now for a japanese platoon, the japanese had 13 man squads (12 rifles and an ISW), and 4 squads per platoon. One of these was a weapons platoon with up to 3 x 50mm knee mortars.

My question is this can someone help me how to organise the formation of this weapons paltoon. Should it start as depletede squad, and then have the option of more riflemen, and then add 1 to 3 knee mortars? Or should they all be rifle platoons and add 1 to 3 50mm knee mortars as the special add ons. Like more mp40 for german units in a squad?

Try this:

Looks like a 13 man rifle squad with 3 50mm mortars added.

My view on it would be to include the mortars (4 men per mortar) as Company Support choices and allow you to take up to 3 of them in a platoon.

Basic force org chart would include 1 x HQ and 3 x rifle squads, plus one Company Support choice for each, plus 1 Divisional Support.

The way I'm reading the document from Daytona675 is that the mortar squad was the fourth element in the platoon. That being the case I would set it up like a normal platoon and attach the mortar squad to the HQ in place of the company support choice option, as with the Romanian's in the Bagration book. This way you don't have to sacrifice a lot of company support for something that was always present in the platoon.

You could do it as understrength initially and then have the option to add more mortars and men for Support Points.
